Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for Greenville, North Carolina!
Greenville is the cultural center of North Carolina's Tidewater portion of the nation's Coastal Plain, also known as the Inner Banks, in the central northeastern quadrant of the state. Pitt County Memorial Hospital and East Carolina University, now the area's largest employers, are the main agents of change from what was a rural tobacco production area to a vibrant, cultural hub attractive to new business development. The campus of ECU is close to the downtown area and provides the community with concerts, theater, lectures, and for a town of its size, an unusual number of centrally located entertainment and refreshment venues that appeal to younger crowds.
The many 'big box' neighborhood malls in Greenville provide most of the shopping options for the entire region. Traffic can get congested at times, as I-95, the nearest major highway, is almost 30 miles west of Greenville; however, Greenville's public bus system is expanding, as is the Pitt-Greenville Airport (PGV) which serves the area, and a city-wide 'Greenway' of pedestrian and bicycle paths is in development. Downtown Greenville offers the best selection of chain hotels and lodging options around the university, but if you don't need to be in the downtown area, there are a few resorts and bed and breakfast inns outside of Greenville where you can get a closer encounter with the unique geography, culture and cuisine of the area.
